Cell Sense: Revealing Associations between Our Cells and Our Selves
You may be eligible to participate in the study if you are:
- A healthy man or woman.
- Between 20-79 years old.
- Resident of the San Francisco Bay Area and mainland USA.
- English speaking.
- Willing to keep health behaviors stable for one year.
- We will not ask you to go against your doctor’s guidance, but do ask you to not voluntarily make dramatic changes in your activity level, nutrition and general wellness and self-care activities. Many people plan to exercise more in the future and that is not an exclusion criteria. We only include people who are not planning on any very dramatic health behavior change over the next year (eg, gluten free diet, atkins diet, or liquid diet, bariatric surgery for weight loss).
You may not be eligible to participate if you:
- Have a chronic health condition or taking medications for any such condition. This may include cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, insulin resistance (metabolic syndrome), chronic inflammation (e.g. rheumatoid disease), diabetes mellitus and dementia/cognitive decline, among others. This does not include occasional medication use and mild conditions which are occasional and are not considered diseases.
- However, if you are within the ages of 60 and 79, mild conditions of aging and common medications (e.g. - statins, anti-hypertensives) may be admissible.
- Are a current smoker.
- Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of over 35.
- Regularly take more than 1000 mgs daily of Omega-3s, as a supplement.
- Take more than 3 different types of daily supplements (not including Omega-3s).
Benefits of participation:
Attend an on-line educational session on telomere science from members of our Founding team;
Learn information on how to interpret results, and information on the latest studies showing how to best maintain the health of your cells. The rate of change may be important, as it is a modifiable index of aging.
Reimbursement:
Telome Health will provide you with $50.00 to reimburse you for your time in participating for each of the three visits ($150.00 total).
